The RunDoyen Today screen: a rest day between the first run and the longer Sunday run, TJ's reply to yesterday's check-in (reviewed, no change needed), the week's briefing and the next seven days.
The RunDoyen Plan screen, Week view: this week's chart (Friday's 2 mile easy run partly done, a rest day, Sunday's 3 mile long run) and the coach TJ's note: your Friday and Tuesday runs stay short and easy, with Sunday set aside for a relaxed longer run; rest between runs lets you try a third running day without stacking the work.

Your plan, coached

Your personalized training plan is just the beginning.

You get structured training built for you, seven days at a time. Then your coach keeps guiding it: adapting when real life or your progress calls for it, and holding steady when that is the better call.

  • Personalized trainingWorkouts, distances and paces built around your goal, fitness and schedule.
  • Coaching that adaptsTo real life and to how your runs actually go, with the reasoning behind every change.
  • Real RunDoyen coachesThe distinct methods of accomplished coaches, in a digital coach you choose or are matched with.

Your training plan

Personalized and prescribed for your week.

  • Friday: easy run, 2 miles.
  • Saturday: rest.
  • Sunday: long run, 3 miles.

Your coaching

What actually happened, what it means, and what to do next.

What happened
1.5 miles. It got dark, and the pace felt easy.
What it means
Darkness, not effort, ended the run.
What to do next
Plan kept. No half mile to make up, and Sunday’s long run stays relaxed, as planned.

Your coach is there for the moments that change a week:

  • A run is missed
  • A session feels too hard, or too easy
  • Your fitness moves forward
  • Work, family or travel get in the way
  • You question a pace or a workout
  • The right call is to hold steady

The same week, in the app.

  1. RunDoyen Coach Chat. The runner asks what the first week should focus on. The coach TJ answers: building a steady running habit with three easy runs spaced out for recovery; Friday and Tuesday short and gentle, Sunday's run easy but a bit longer to start establishing endurance, with rest days between runs.

    1. Understand

Training that starts where you are.

Asked what the first week is for, TJ explains it: a steady running habit from three easy runs, rest between them, and a slightly longer Sunday run to start building endurance. A change your coach suggests in Chat waits for your OK.

  2. A RunDoyen workout check-in: completed partially, planned 2 miles, actual 1.5 miles in 20 minutes, pace feel right, and the runner's note: it got dark so I stopped at 1.5 miles; the pace felt easy and I could have kept going.

    2. Check in

Tell your coach what actually happened.

Planned 2 miles, ran 1.5 because it got dark. Your check-in keeps what you ran beside what was planned, with how it felt in your own words.

  3. The coach TJ's reply to the check-in, marked Plan kept: since darkness, not the effort, ended the run, the plan stays unchanged with no need to make up the remaining half mile; take today's rest, then keep Sunday's 3 mile long run relaxed as planned, because consistency matters more than every missed fraction of a mile.

    3. Decide

Your coach decides, and says why.

TJ keeps the plan: darkness, not effort, ended the run, so there is no half mile to make up. Sunday's long run stays relaxed, as planned. Sometimes the right call is to hold steady.

  • Your next 7 daysPersonalized, structured workouts at the distances and paces that fit you, prescribed on a rolling seven-day basis from your runs, your feedback and what you have told your coach.
  • The 14 days afterYour coach’s outlook: which days are long runs, quality days, easy days or rest. Subject to change.
  • Your race or goalThe weeks to go and your fitness against your goal. Your longer-term goal informs each week.
Plan changed

Leaving the plan alone is a coaching decision too. So is changing it.

Sometimes the right answer is no change. When your running shows you are ready, your training progresses, and when life changes the week, your coach proposes a new one, with its reasons.

“Work ran late and I could not get out. Legs felt fine.”

TJ Digital Coach · Change proposed

Work running late is a real schedule constraint, not a reason to read anything into your fitness, and you reported that your legs felt fine. I’m proposing adding the 8 mi long run on Monday at easy pace (10:05 - 10:53 / mi) rather than losing this week’s main endurance session.

Apple Watch runs arrive through Apple Health; Garmin runs through Garmin Connect and Apple Health, where supported. Workouts cannot be sent to a watch yet: record your run as usual.

Current Fitness Level: where you are today, from a recent race, a time trial or your own estimate. Every training pace is set from it. Goal Fitness Level: what your goal asks for. It guides where your training is heading, never today’s paces. Add a new race or time trial and your level and paces update. Levels are results and estimates. They are not points. Sample runner.

Good to know

Frequently asked questions

A few answers before you get started.

Is RunDoyen for beginners and experienced runners?

Both. Your training is built from your current fitness and your goal: a 5K to a marathon, a custom distance, a timed fitness test, or no race at all. The workouts and paces follow from where you are. Ultra and trail goals are more limited: TJ does not coach them, and Sean and Jacob have limited direct experience with them.

How is this different from an AI training plan?

A plan is a schedule. Your coach prescribes real workouts, reads how each run went and what you said, and decides what comes next, with the reasons. Sometimes the right call is to change nothing. New weeks are built from your latest training. A change you ask for in Chat happens only when you confirm it.

Is a real coach messaging me?

No. Responses are AI-generated, informed by each coach's knowledge, coaching philosophy and experience. The coach is not personally messaging you. The human coaching business continues separately at rundoyen.com.

Will I get a full plan to race day?

You get detailed training seven days at a time, then your coach's outlook for the 14 days after: long runs, quality days, easy days and rest, subject to change. Your race date, the weeks to go and your Fitness Levels stay on your Plan. Your goal and your coach's longer-term direction shape each week, but the app does not show a calendar all the way to race day.

Which watches work with RunDoyen?

Apple Watch runs reach RunDoyen through Apple Health on your iPhone. Garmin runs can reach it through Garmin Connect and Apple Health, where supported. If a run does not come through, you can log it yourself. Polar, COROS and Suunto are not yet verified with RunDoyen: their apps can share finished runs to Apple Health, but we have not yet confirmed a run arriving from each of them. RunDoyen does not run on the watch, does not send structured workouts to a watch yet, and does not connect to Garmin directly.

What are Guided Runs?

Start a supported workout from your plan, and your iPhone records the run with GPS and speaks each step and target pace, with optional coaching cues written ahead of time. Carry your iPhone, headphones are optional, and not every workout supports Guided Runs yet.

How much does it cost?

Getting started costs nothing, and we do not ask for payment details. You will always see any price before you are asked to pay.
